Traveling is more than a hobby for me. It’s a way for me to learn about other cultures, to look back at the history of other countries, and to see what life is like outside of the United States. The food. the historical landmarks. the social life. The Languages. It’s all incredibly interesting to me and it’s truly a way to learn about the rest of the people that share this beautiful world with us.
Through this blog, I will be sharing photos, stories and opinions about the many places I’ve visited throughout my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit so many places that it will take me a while to put them all on the site. I’ve traveled around North America, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico. I’ve traveled extensively around Europe and have been to a small portion of Africa and Asia. And yet, there are still so many more countries and continents that I want and hope to visit at some point in the future. For now, I’ll be starting off with three European countries that I visited most recently.
Northern Ireland
I had been to Ireland before and really loved it. But I’d heard so much about the history of Northern Ireland that I wanted to see what there was to experience up north. Starting off from Dublin, we headed up north through Northern Ireland and to the west ending at the Cliffs of Mohr. Northern Ireland had so much to offer in its history, especially in Belfast and Derry, but the scenery both in the fields and along the coast was unforgettable.
Norway
I’ve seen pictures and images from Norway in movies, etc. so with it and Sweden, they were places I’d always wanted to visit. Norway came up as the first opportunity and it has become one of my favorite places to visit. My trip started in Oslo and I was able to travel around the southern part of Norway through Bergen and up to through some of the fjords. I definitely would like to go back to visit the northern part of Norway so I could see the northern lights. But it’s definitely worth a visit for all of the beauty in the fjords, the waterfalls and all of the wonderful towns you would visit along the way.
The Netherlands
I have visited Amsterdam a few times. There’s so much to see and do there. It’s a perfect place to just wander around on foot, riding a bike, or take a boat ride on a canal. There’s so much history in Amsterdam, including the Anne Frank house. I also traveled all around The Netherlands (informally called Holland) and was fortunate to have visited in April in the midst of tulip season. Not only were the tulips blooming in the fields and in the gardens, but the flower markets were in full swing. It really added to my experience in The Netherlands.
I’ve added a couple of polls to the site which will help me determine what photos to put up in the blog next. You can find the polls here.
